My Journey at EIMUN 2024: A Transformative Diplomatic Experience

Attending EIMUN 2024 was one of the most enriching and memorable experiences of my academic and personal journey. The event was conducted by the U.S. Embassy in Nepal in collaboration with Youth Thinkers’ Society, bringing together passionate young delegates from across Asia on a single international platform. For me, it was not just a conference — it was an experience that expanded my worldview, strengthened my diplomatic skills, and connected me with inspiring individuals from different countries and cultures.

Represented as a Delegate of UAE

Having previously participated in several Model United Nations (MUN) conferences and being appreciated for my diplomatic thinking and communication abilities, I was naturally excited to be part of EIMUN 2024. However, this conference felt different from the beginning. It was one of the biggest and most internationally diverse events I had ever attended, where youth from different nations came together to discuss some of the world’s most pressing global challenges.

The five-day program was filled with impactful sessions, committee discussions, networking opportunities, and leadership activities. Every day brought new learning experiences and meaningful interactions. The atmosphere itself was motivating — young leaders discussing ideas, collaborating across cultures, and working toward sustainable global solutions.

During the conference, I was allotted the country United Arab Emirates (UAE) in the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) committee. Representing the UAE gave me the responsibility to advocate for balanced, sustainable, and realistic environmental solutions while considering economic and developmental perspectives.

The committee discussions focused on critical global agendas such as:

  • Assisting developing countries in shifting toward sustainable energy infrastructure through collective international cooperation.
  • Promoting sustainable water management practices.
  • Enhancing international cooperation to protect blue ecosystems and marine environments.

These topics pushed me to think critically, research deeply, and engage diplomatically with other delegates. Throughout the sessions, I actively participated in debates, negotiations, and collaborative problem-solving discussions. I shared ideas focused on sustainability, cooperation, and practical implementation strategies for developing nations.

One of the proudest moments for me during the conference was receiving a Special Mention Award for my ideas, solutions, and active participation in discussions. Being recognized in such an international environment motivated me even more to continue developing my leadership and diplomatic abilities.

Beyond the committee sessions, EIMUN 2024 also gave me the opportunity to meet and interact with inspiring individuals from the U.S. Embassy and other respected institutions in Nepal. Listening to their experiences and perspectives gave me valuable insights into diplomacy, leadership, and international cooperation.

Another unforgettable aspect of the program was the friendships and connections I built. I had the chance to meet and interact with delegates from countries like Japan, Kazakhstan, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and many others. Despite coming from different backgrounds and cultures, we were united by shared ideas, ambitions, and the desire to create positive change in the world. The conference truly brought South Asia and other parts of Asia together in a meaningful and inspiring way.

Looking back, EIMUN 2024 was far more than just an academic event for me. It was a journey of learning, confidence-building, cultural exchange, and personal growth. It reminded me that diplomacy is not only about speeches and debates — it is about understanding different perspectives, building cooperation, and working together to solve global challenges.

I feel incredibly grateful to have been part of such a prestigious international platform. The memories, lessons, and connections from EIMUN 2024 will always remain an important part of my journey, inspiring me to continue growing as a learner, leader, and global citizen.

Thank you!!

Bridging Skills and Opportunities in Nepal’s Digital Generation

We are living in a world where being skilled is no longer enough. Today, people also need to be seen, connected, and able to present themselves to opportunities. In many ways, this is becoming one of the biggest realities of the modern world, especially for countries like Nepal. Nepal today is changing. The younger generation is more educated, more aware, more ambitious, and more globally connected than ever before. There is clearly a generation shift happening. Young people are learning new skills, exploring technology, studying online, building ideas, and trying to grow beyond traditional limitations. But at the same time, there is also a silent struggle that many youths are facing. The tragedy is not always the lack of talent. The tragedy is that many talented people remain unseen. In Nepal, many young people have skills, creativity, ideas, and potential, but they often do not know how to present themselves to the market, opportunities, or employers. Sometimes the opportunities...

Nepal’s Demographic Dividend: Why the Skills-Employment Gap is Turning Opportunity into Burden

As a Master's student in Economics at Tribhuvan University, I often analyze data that shows Nepal is currently sitting on a golden opportunity. With nearl y 62% o f the population in the working-age group (15–59 years), the country has one of the highest potentials for a demographic dividend in its history [1] . According to recent reports, Nepal needs to create around 6.5 million jobs by 2050 to fully benefit from this young population. If we succeed, this could significantly boost economic growth, increase productivity, and improve living standards. However, the reality on the ground tells a different story. Every day as an education counselor, I meet talented, motivated young people who are full of potential but remain underemployed or unemployed. The main reason is not a lack of degrees — but a serious mismatch between the skills they possess and the skills the market demands. Many graduates come out with strong theoretical knowledge but lack effective communication and present...
